and this was the only one I could think of…

Columbia Pictures have preemptively picked up a sci-fi script from Chris Bertolini (The General’s Daughter) which revolves around one Marine platoon’s fight against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles.

Titled Battle: Los Angeles the film begins production within in six months and will be produced by Neal Mortiz on a “modest budget” says The Hollywood Reporter.

And that’s all we have.

I guess they must be sick of making movies about the destruction of New York. Though you will remember when John Carpenter changed his New York setting to L.A, the result wasn’t fantastic. Not that this movie has anything to do with this movie but I needed an image, and this was the only one I could think of…

90% of the time rumors are false…

By admin On September 28th, 2011

Like I said before, 90% of the time rumors are false…. but you voted for them to be posted!

It would appear that last week’s story of Alan Dale appearing in The Dark Knight as Salvatore Maroni is one such story.

Clint from Moviehole kindly e-mailed Batman on Film to tell them that Alan Dale was not in the running for the movie.

This of course leaves us with more questions than answers. Is Maroni in the film and if so who is going to play him?

BOF, expect a press release to come out shortly which should answer many of the questions we have for this much anticipated sequel.

The Return of King Doug

By admin On September 27th, 2011

Is Ben Stiller starring in a remake of Steven Spielberg’s Hook?

No of course not. But he has attached himself to produce and possibly star in The Return of King Doug for Dreamworks, the adaptation of an upcoming Oni Press graphic novel which from the plot synopsis shares some theme’s with Robin Williams star vehicle…

Written by Greg Erb and Jason Oremland, “King” centers on a man who must return to the fantasy world which he abandoned 30 years earlier. Erb and Oremland will also write the screenplay.

And who doesn’t love Hook, right?

Screenwriter Roberto Orci claims there is the possibility of a huge ten robot vs. ten robot battle in the currently filming sequel to the $700 million worldwide smash Transformers.

He left this on an Internet Message Board…

I’d love and think we could almost barely manage ten on each side, with some front and center and others as more supporting.

This weekend we also heard that Autobot Jazz would be returning in the movie despite Michael Bay earlier claiming he wouldn’t be back.

s Sydney-based Sherlock Symington Productions won the rights to the film.

By admin On September 20th, 2011

Now usually I take everything I hear from The Associated Press with a massive grain of salt but they have script writer and producer quotes, and well you just can’t ignore that kind of source. Unless they have totally made up a story then there has to be some truth to this.

According to producer Bruce Sherlock and screenwriter Tim Boyle, an Australian production company have secured the rights to the Phantom series and are set to make a $87 million budgeted sequel to the 1996 superhero flop THE PHANTOM which starred Billy Zane and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Sherlock was executive producer on the original film.

The sequel will be titled THE PHANTOM LEGACY…

The latest adaptation, which is expected to cost $87 million, will focus on “the Father/Son relationship, and what it means to be The Phantom,” scriptwriter Tim Boyle said in a statement. “The film will be set in the present day and will deal with the concept of destiny.”

“It has the makings of a blockbuster,” Sherlock told The Associated Press. “There’s some surprises that will thrill the Phantom fans worldwide.” Sherlock’s Sydney-based Sherlock Symington Productions won the rights to the film.

The movie is expected to be shot in Australia and will begin filming within the next six to nine months with the producers on the hunt for an Australian or American actor to play the lead. The original was a disaster of epic proportions, just one of the many superhero mis-fires of the 9o’s…

THE PHANTOM dates back to a daily newspaper comic book strip created by Lee Falk in 1937. It featured Kit Walker as the 21st in a family legacy of crime fighting masked heroes who worked from a jungle headquarters.

One would think this will be a complete reboot (not that many people remember the original anyway) rather than a sequel.

BUFFY’s Charisma Carpenter and WWE’s Stone Cold Steve Austin have joined the “home coming of tough guys”…

Sylvester Stallone (writing, producing, directing and starring), Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Corture, Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke (although how he shuffles IRON MAN 2 and this, I don’t know) and for one brief scene, Arnie also star.?

Now, which one gets to bang Charisma?
